With over 18 million people residing in South Africa, many individuals depend on grants provided by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) to support vulnerable unemployed individuals. If you are a beneficiary of the Social Relief of Distress Grant, you can now check the status of your application through the SASSA website to determine the approval status of your grant.
During the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, Sassa received over 8.9 million applications for the R350 grant, which aims to support the unemployed who were affected by job losses. Among these applications, approximately 59% were from women, and they were received from individuals across all nine provinces.
If you are a beneficiary of the SRD grant and have chosen the cash-send payment method through banks such as ABSA, TYME BANK, NEDBANK, FNB, or Standard Bank, it is important to note that you can reach out to your respective bank for any inquiries or assistance. Here are the contact numbers provided for each bank:
Absa – 080 000 0122.
Tyme Bank – 086 099 9119.
Nedbank – 080 055 5111.
FNB – 087 575 9405.
Standard Bank – 086 046 639.
By contacting your bank, you can address any concerns or questions related to the collection of your grant payments.
SRD grant recipients who have selected the cash-send option and do not have any payment dates indicated in their SRD application status are encouraged to provide their banking details instead. By entering their banking information, they can ensure a smooth and timely disbursement of their grant payments.
To have your SASSA grant paid into your bank account, simply update your banking details on the SASSA SRD R350 website (https://srd.sassa.gov.za) by entering your ID number, selecting your bank, providing your name and bank account number, and choosing the account type (savings or current).
